Ballerina Michaela Mabinty DePrince, 29, and her mom died within 24 hours of each other

Just one day after Boston Ballet principal soloist Michaela Mabinty DePrince passed away at 29, her adoptive mother also died from an unrelated illness. Elaine DePrince passed away during a routine procedure, not knowing about Michaela’s death. The family is grieving and asked for privacy. Michaela, born in Sierra Leone during the civil war, was adopted by Elaine along with her friend. Despite facing rejection due to her vitiligo, Elaine adopted both girls. Michaela went on to pursue her dream of becoming a professional ballerina, achieving success with various ballet companies. The family is mourning the loss of both Michaela and Elaine.
