The sandalwood paste for the kalabhabhishekam on Lord Ayyappa’s idol at Sabarimala will now be prepared in-house at Sannidhanam starting on Thiruvonam day. Previously, the paste was purchased by the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) and distributed to devotees. Two grinding machines and a modern cooling system have been installed at the temple for this purpose. The sandalwood stored in the TDB’s strongroom will be used, with more to be procured from the forest department when needed. The selection process for the chief priests of Sabarimala and Malikappuram temples will take place on Sept 25 and 26 at the TDB headquarters. Applicants who have not received interview memos should contact the TDB head office.
