Seattle Times blasted for saying Trump ‘falsely’ claimed BLM protestors took over big part of the city in 2020

Social media users criticized The Seattle Times for disputing former President Trump’s claim that the Capitol Hill Organized Protest (CHOP) took over a “big portion” of Seattle during the riots in 2020. Trump pointed out the hypocrisy of his opponents who blamed him for the Capitol riot but supported the previous summer’s riots. The Times corrected Trump, stating that the CHOP only occupied six city blocks. Social media users slammed the outlet for being petty and spreading misinformation. Multiple shootings occurred in the CHOP area, including the murder of a teenager. The Seattle Times did not respond to requests for comment.
