The app rose to first place in the shopping category on the day of the announcement. This move reflects Taobao’s dedication to serving diverse language fluency among Singapore users. The new platform enhances accessibility for non-Chinese users, eliminating the need for manual translations. Singapore is the first market to receive this update, with plans to expand to Malaysia. Despite some imperfections in the English-language experience, users were quick to embrace the new features. Taobao’s average monthly active users in Singapore reached 167,000 in the third quarter of 2024.
