Four schools, including Boise State, Colorado State, San Diego State, and Fresno State, are planning to leave the Mountain West conference to join the Pac-12 in the 2026-27 academic year. They will be joining Oregon State and Washington State, the only remaining schools in the conference after its collapse last summer. The departing schools will need to pay an exit fee of roughly $18 million with two years notice. The Pac-12 is expected to help with the exit fees and will also be subjected to additional poaching fees. The conference will still need to add two more schools to meet the NCAA minimum requirement.
