The Premier League’s Independent Key Match Incidents (KMI) Panel has supported referee Chris Kavanagh’s decision to send off Declan Rice in Arsenal’s match against Brighton & Hove Albion. Rice received a second yellow card for delaying the restart of play, and the panel deemed the decision to be correct. The panel, which includes former players and coaches, provides an independent assessment of major match incidents. So far this season, there have been few controversies in the Premier League, with only one VAR decision being ruled incorrect. Despite some penalty situations being deemed wrong on the pitch, they did not meet the threshold for intervention.
