Mercedes-Benz Korea is being investigated by South Korea’s antitrust regulator after an EQE electric vehicle caught fire in a parking lot, damaging many cars. The probe will focus on whether the company misrepresented its battery suppliers. The investigation was launched after the incident in Incheon on August 1, which led to the destruction of around 140 cars. Mercedes-Benz Korea has not commented on the matter but has stated that they are cooperating with authorities to determine the cause of the fire and offering free inspections for EV owners. The regulator will specifically examine whether the company misled consumers about its battery suppliers.
