A 100-meter-long steel bridge was recently launched in Silvassa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, marking a significant milestone in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. The bridge, weighing 1,464 metric tonnes and manufactured using Japanese technology as part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, is a key component of the 508-kilometre high-speed rail project. The National High Speed Rail Corporation is overseeing the development of India’s first high-speed rail corridor, connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad with plans for future extensions to other major cities. The bullet train is expected to travel at speeds of up to 320 km/h, drastically reducing travel time between these cities.
