V K Prasanth MLA recently inaugurated a project in Vattiyoorkavu constituency that aims to provide pesticide-free vegetables and flowers to the public. The farming was done on land acquired by TRIDA for resettlement activities. 15 types of vegetables and flowers, including marigolds in different colors, were grown on one acre of land. Vegetable and flower cultivation was also carried out at households in the locality with the cooperation of residence associations. The harvested vegetables will be sold through eco-shops and directly by the farmers, while flowers will be available for floral arrangements.
