Asia’s most powerful storm of the year, Super Typhoon Yagi, made landfall in northern Vietnam, causing devastation and claiming lives in its path. The typhoon had already caused casualties in Hainan and the Philippines before hitting Vietnam. Strong winds, heavy rain, and high waves caused damage to buildings, trees, and infrastructure in Vietnam, particularly in the coastal city of Haiphong. Thousands were evacuated, and military personnel were deployed to assist in rescue and relief efforts. The storm left a trail of destruction, with power outages, fallen trees, and damaged homes reported across northern Vietnam.
