Flights service affected in Thiruvananthapuram airport as ground handling staff go on strike

On Sunday, September 8, 2024, flight services at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport were delayed by over 30 minutes due to a strike by ground handling staff of Air India SATS Airport Services Private Limited. The strike was called for pay revision and a festival bonus, starting around 10 p.m. on Saturday. While no services were cancelled, flights were delayed due to issues with baggage processing. Additional manpower was deployed to minimize delays, with some services experiencing up to 30 minutes of delay. Airlines are working to assess the situation and reduce delays. Affected services included flights to Bengaluru, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.
