Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has announced that it received a record number of patent approvals in the last financial year, totaling 674 approvals. The majority of these approvals came from the Indian patent office, with the company having a total of 1,185 patents across multiple countries. Additionally, M&M has 193 patent applications awaiting approval and has filed a total of 2,212 applications to date. The patents cover a wide range of functions including powertrain, vehicle mechanical systems, electronics, manufacturing processes, electric tractors, and advanced engineering. CEO Rajesh Jejurikar emphasized the importance of being future-ready and staying ahead of the curve in terms of technology and talent. This announcement comes shortly after Tata Motors revealed that it received 333 patents in the same fiscal year, bringing its total granted patents to over 850. Tata Motors also filed 222 patents and 117 design applications in FY24, focusing on key automotive trends such as connectivity, electrification, sustainability, and safety.
